Resource description

Approaching the topic from a range of methodologies and geographical contexts, 16 papers on the relationship between women and democratic politics are presented by Ross (communication, culture, and media studies; U. of Coventry, UK). The essays discuss such topics as why men currently dominate parliaments, whether simple equal representation of women will constitute significant political change, and the problems of state-sponsored feminism. Other essays focus more specifically on the impact of women on policy agendas, while still others look at the experiences and strategies of women in politics.
