Co-location of industry professionals often leads to development ofcollaboration networks, and multiple studies have emphasized the benefits ofembedded collaboration. Due to higher levels of trust, embedded collaborationreduces transaction costs and facilitates ready knowledge exchanged. Otherstudies have pointed to dangers of over-embeddedness. The argument is thattoo high levels of embeddedness lead to habitual thinking, preferentialtreatment, and thereby mitigate performance.
