In this article we describe transitional leadership development programs as the beginning of a journey, and we propose that for this type of program, an integrated collaborative approach to evaluation is logical and appropriate. We argue that the leadership development evaluation process for one program described in thisarticle is continuous. Ongoing evaluation includes baseline entry interviews, 360° testing, action planning and experimentation and, most significantly, live case study presentations and feedback loops, which are embedded into the rhythm of the work and lives of the participants who attend our program. Our post-program retest study has validated, albeit on a small scale, that change does occur in a direction that we predicted, as a result of the program.
