In this article, the authors examine four managerial issues associated with concurrent engineering (CE: first, task definition is concerned with the decomposition of a complex product design problem into smaller activities. Second, time concurrence refers to the level of process parallelity in the overall development schedule. Third, information concurence refers to the ongoing coordination of activities during development execution. Fourth, the organizational structure, support processes and support technologies together comprise the supporting infrastructure necessary to successfully implement CE.
