Resource description

This paper provides a framework for defining an efficient remanufacturing procedure for a generic durable good at the end of its useful life. For many materials, the recycling technology (material recovery) is broadly avaible. However, the design of most products does not favor the recovery of the value-added in the good. Products designed for optimal marketing and ease of manufacturing are not necessarily good candidates for a recovery scheme. Design measures such as recyclability, dissasemblability and reusability are clearly defined and used as the basis of the product recovery framework. I apply this framework and the design measures to a bicycle to illustrate their application and managerial relevance
